**Jackson enrolled at Manchester, Kentucky under the name of Jackson Sizemoure on August 19, 1861, as a Private, in Company E 7th Infantry in the service of the United States. His personal description at enlistment was as follows: 6' 1" and dark complexion. It was stated that his occupation was a farmer. And did give his birthday as May 20, 1840.
Jackson was a Prisoner of War. In his records it shows a memorandum from Prisoner of War Records but unable to read copy. Unsure when or where he was taken prisoner but believe ending date was May 1863.
The Surgeon General's Office Record on Pension Claim #457,996, states "that Jackson Sizemoure, Private, Company E. 7th Volunteers entered Hospital Steamer "Nashville" at Vicksburg, Mississippi on July wr, 1863; with intermittent fever, and transferred August 13, 1863; that Jackson Sizemoure entered Hospital Steamer "R.L. Wood" on August 13, 1863 with chronic diarrhea. He was sent to General Hospital at Memphis, Tennessee on August 16, 1863. The records of Vicksburg, Mississippi on July 6, 1863 (earliest date) to July 25, 1863, and such records of Field Hosptials as are on file bearing on the case." Jackson drew a pension of $25, as stated in Pension Clain #416439.
He was honorably discharged at Louisville, Kentucky on October 5, 1864.

Henry is listed in the United States, Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS, 1850-2010. He enlisted November 12, 1942, at Huntington, West Virginia and served until October 7, 1945.
Henry is listed in the United States, World War II Draft Cards Young Men, 1940-1947. He registered in Leslie County, Kentucky on October 15, 1940. He is age 22, 5'11", 155 pounds, light complexion, brown hair, and blue eyes. His next of kin is Gus Sizemore.
Henry is listed in the 1950 United States Federal Census living at Bull Creek, Leslie County, Kentucky. Henry age 31 and Zola age 21. The children listed are Marietta is age 2, Bernadine was born in July. Also, in the home is father-in-law Elize Wooton age 73.
Mr. Henry Roberts born January 28, 1918 passed away May 1, 2008 at the age of 90 years, 3 months & 3 days. He was born at Dryhill, Kentucky the son of Oakley Roberts & Oma North, however Henry was raised from infancy by Gus & Sarah Sizemore. Henry was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. By occupation he was a retired Sheriff of Leslie Co. Kentucky. Henry served his 1st term as Sheriff in 1966 till 1970, then he served his 2nd term in 1982 till 1986. He was a member of the Farm Bureau Board, Leslie County Water Board, and the Kentucky Sheriff's Association. Henry was affiliated with the Swiss Colony Baptist Church in London, Kentucky. He had been a life long resident of Leslie County with the exception of having lived in London, Kentucky for the past 10 years.

**Samuel L. Begley was the first County Judge of Leslie County. Samuel enlisted in the Union Army after his father Edward "Ned" Begley, was hung by raisers. April 6 - 12, 1863: Edward "Ned" Begley is hung at the Nigh Way Point on Cutshin Creek, Leslie Co. by a man named Wells from Captain Bradshaw's Co., 2nd Battalion KY Mtd. Rifles [CS]. Edward had been doing some carpenter work for a neighbor and had his hammer and saw in his hands. The rebels, acting as though they were Union men, betrayed Edward into revealing his sympathies. He remarked that his family was expecting the Union men and had been cooking for them all day. Immediately the rebels fell upon Edward, taking the rawhide bridles from their horses and hanging him on a paw paw tree right beside the road.

**Edgar's ship was hit by a torpedo and went down. Killed at sea . Memorial marker in Napier Cemetery. Seaman First Class Edgar Napier , WW ll navy enlistment and reported missing and ultimately declared dead on April 20, 1945. Ship hit by torpedo.
He is memorialized at Tablets of the missing at Honolulu Memorial , Honolulu, Hawaii. This is an American Monuments Commission location
